Our Fields

Roger Thiessen & Romina Bortoluzzi

Our Fields produce is ecologically grown using organic farming practices on a small 2-acre farm.

After moving back to Canada in 2017 after 8 years of living and working abroad, Romina Bortoluzzi and Roger Thiessen started this small farm as a way to connect to the local community and share their love of food. They are happiest when they can share their food in person with the community of people they have come to know at local farmers’ markets.

Our Fields is located on Roger’s parents’ poultry farm, which provides a fantastic source of compost that is recycled back into the soil to grow beautiful produce. Vegetable varieties are chosen for their flavour and unique attributes, so many are heirloom varieties. Produce is picked at peak ripeness and any extra is made into a variety of delicious small-batch preserves for sale.

In 2020, Roger began a passion project of beekeeping, and the raw unpasteurized honey and honey products can be purchased alongside the fresh vegetables and homemade preserves at Wildflowers Market Fridays from 4 pm-8 pm and Horton Farmers’ Market, Saturdays from 9 am-12 pm (St. Thomas, Ontario).
